Prices
What the common jobs cost.
Most repairs are the same work every time, so they have a price you can read before you write to us. The ones that genuinely depend on what we find are marked.
Every figure includes VAT and is a from price — the lowest we actually charge for that job. A camera in poor shape can cost more, and we tell you the number before any work starts, never after.
Back inside a week
Defined work with a known scope. No inspection needed to quote it, and nothing here waits behind a strip-down.
Servicestart here
New light seals and mirror foam, every function worked through by hand, and a written note of what we found. Makes a camera light-tight again and tells you honestly what you’ve got — the sensible first thing to do with anything that has been in a drawer.
From£80
Certified serviceallow 2 weeks
Everything in the Service, and then it is proved: shutter speeds measured on the timer at every setting, a test roll shot and developed, and a written report across all four condition axes. This is the same check our own stock goes through before it reaches the shelf.
From£140
Light seals & mirror foam
Perished seals and mirror foam replaced. Due on almost any body over thirty years old, and the cheapest thing that stops a ruined roll.
From£65
Rangefinder calibration
Vertical and horizontal alignment reset, infinity checked. On its own — it’s included in a full CLA.
From£135
Lens clean — haze & fungus
Elements separated, cleaned and reassembled. Fungus and haze go where the coating is intact; etched glass can’t be recovered and we say so before charging.
From£110per lens
6-bit codingquoted after inspection
Machined and painted so the body reads the lens. Currently placed with a specialist — ask before counting on the lead time.
From£120per lens
Four weeks and up
A full strip, clean, re-lubrication and re-timing can’t be hurried without doing it badly. Rush service is available on this lane.
Leica M — full CLA
Strip, clean, re-lubricate, re-time. Speeds set on the timer, rangefinder recalibrated, new seals throughout.
12-month warranty
From£330
Leica screw-mount — full CLA
The same full service on a I to IIIg, including curtain condition and slow-speed escapement.
12-month warranty
From£230
Lens CLA
Helicoid re-greased, aperture blades cleaned, elements cleaned and collimated.
12-month warranty
From£195per lens
Mechanical SLR — full CLA
Nikon F and F2, Canon, Pentax and most all-mechanical bodies. Speeds, meter, mirror and seals.
12-month warranty
From£165
Rolleiflex TLR — full CLA
Shutter, transport and focus overhauled, screen cleaned, collimation set. Selenium meters are usually beyond recovery — we price as if there isn’t one.
12-month warranty
From£395
Hasselblad V body — overhaul
500-series body overhaul — the mechanism stripped, cleaned and re-timed. Backs and lenses are quoted separately.
12-month warranty
From£340
Hasselblad V lens shutter
Leaf shutter stripped and re-timed, blades cleaned, speeds set.
12-month warranty
From£185per lens
Medium-format rangefinder — CLA
Mamiya 6 and 7, Fuji GW and similar. Parts for these are finite — we say early if yours needs one we can’t get.
12-month warranty
From£320
Shutter curtain — screw-mount Leica
New curtain cut, fitted and tensioned. Usually done within a CLA rather than on its own.
From£65per curtain
Shutter curtain — Leica M
The same work on an M, which takes longer and costs more in material — pricing it as a screw-mount job would be pricing it wrong.
From£95per curtain
Electronic SLRquoted after inspection
X-700, Contax Aria and similar. Where the board is alive this is ordinary work; where an unobtainable IC has failed, nobody can fix it and we won’t charge to find out twice.
From£175
Leica M9 sensor corrosion
The corrosion sits in the sensor’s cover glass, not the silicon underneath. We delaminate the corroded filter and fit new Schott BG61 — the same corrosion-resistant glass the specialists use — then recalibrate the rangefinder to it, included rather than charged as an extra. Done at our own bench in London, so the camera never crosses an ocean. If the CCD itself has failed rather than the glass, a swap won’t save it and we tell you that before anything is opened.
Lifetime cover against corrosion on the glass we fit — and it follows the camera, so it still stands for whoever owns it next.
Under that cover the glass itself is free, however long from now. Refitting it is £195, which pays for the bench time and the rangefinder recalibration afterwards.
From£690
Rush
Add 30% on the four-week lane and it comes back inside a week. Subject to the bench being free — ask before you post.
Small jobs
We take them. A £65 seal replacement is welcome and gets the same warranty as a £330 overhaul — it’s often how people try us first.
Estimate
Always free; included in the repair if you go ahead.
Diagnostic fee
Only if you decline — £25 in store, £35 returned by courier.
Warranty
6 months as standard, twelve on any full overhaul.

What we don’t take
Not modesty — these have no parts anywhere, and taking your money to confirm that would be dishonest.
- Hasselblad XPan electronics — no board or flex is made anywhere. Mechanical XPan faults we will look at.
- Contax T3 main board, and Contax G1 autofocus gearboxes.
- Leica M240 and M10 sensors — Wetzlar only.
- 1990s autofocus compacts with flash-board or shutter-magnet faults — the repair costs more than the camera.
- Selenium meters. They are almost always dead and there is nothing to fit.
- Anything water-damaged, and anything already opened by someone else — the work can’t be estimated honestly.
